The Michigan maple season is upon us!
Many in the southern part of the state have started tapping or are just about ready. Mother Nature has been nurturing the potential for a great start to the maple season by giving us daytime highs in the low 40’s and nighttime lows in the upper 20’s...Perfect. Our sugarmakers in the northern part of the lower peninsula aren’t too far behind, followed by the Upper Peninsula.
Thus far, it seems to be a normal start for the maple season - not too early and not too late. Now to predict how good of a season it will actually be? Well, we’ll let you know that in May.
Meanwhile don’t forget to mark your calendars for Michigan Maple Weekend! Three weekends of maple celebrations across the state where you can see how this liquid gold is made and sample a variety of tasty maple treats.
Southern Lower Michigan: March 21-22
Northern Lower Michigan: March 28-29
