Tree Assistance Program (TAP) Available!

Important Notice for Maple Producers Affected by Recent Storms

Good news! Maple producers who experienced damage from recent storms may be eligible for assistance through the USDA Farm Service Agency’s Tree Assistance Program (TAP).

What is TAP?

The Tree Assistance Program provides financial assistance to qualifying producers to replant or rehabilitate eligible trees damaged by natural disasters. Yes, maple trees used for syrup production are eligible under this program!

You May Qualify If:

  • Your maple trees suffered losses exceeding 15% mortality due to the storm
  • You owned the trees when the disaster occurred
  • You apply at your local FSA office WITHIN 90 DAYS of the storm or when damage becomes apparent

What Help Can You Get?

  • Up to 65% cost-share assistance for replanting or rehabilitating damaged trees
  • Help with costs for debris removal, site preparation, and replanting
  • Support for your maple operation’s recovery

ACT NOW – DON’T DELAY!

Contact your local FSA office IMMEDIATELY to establish a farm record (if you don’t already have one) and begin the application process!

The 90-day application window makes this VERY time-sensitive. Don’t wait to contact your FSA office – even if you’re not sure about the full extent of your damage yet. Getting the process started now is critical!
